She is all smiles and giggles now. It's terrific.

Life is Good

Life is good. Dawson's procedure went well. The major clump is gone. Praise the Lord. The doctor throught he might have seen a small stone, but isn't entirely sure.
Jovie is now 2 months old. She is growing and changing all the time. She sure is precious. Sorry I don't have my camera with me, so I cannot show you pictures.
I just turned 25 and it is great. I am very happy with where my life is at.

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy

LITHOTRIPSY
"Lithos" -- Greek for "stone" "Tripsis" -- Greek for "breaking"

Any guesses?? Yes Dawson went in for Lithrotripsy yesterday. He was hit 3500 times in 40 minutes in the kidney. Ouch! He's a little tender. He is now in the process of passing the kidney stones. Some of them are pretty big. He doesn't look very comfortable. Please continue to remember him in your prayers. Thanks.

One month

Jovie is now a month old. Wow time already has passed. She is doing excellent. She pretty much has her days and nights figured out which is really nice for me! I'm feeling pretty good and Dawson hasn't had any kidney stone attacks in 2 weeks (Praise the Lord!). His appointment is in 2 weeks to have the cluster blasted out, so we're praying no more break off. Other than that there really isn't much to say. All is well. Well i'm sure you're wanting to see some more pictures of Jovie, so I'll let you look at her now.

Jovie Layla Plett

We have quite the story about her arrival . . . It all started early monday morning. My water broke at 2:30 AM. Contractions started right away, I woke up Dawson in pure excitement! It was finally happening. I told Dawson to go back to sleep and I was going to go to the living room for a bit, but i'd wake him if I needed him. At 6 contractions had become a bit stronger, longer, and closer together so I decided to start walking. After a few rounds of the yard I decided to go have a hot shower and try and lie down for a bit. So I did, labour stopped. Okay, let's start walking again, right away contractions started up again. This time they were even longer and coming quicker, excellent, after about an hour and a half I decided to lie down again. Once again labour stopped. As I woke up Dawson came crawiling into the room. We need to go to the hospital NOW, I think I have a kidney stone. So quickly we packed up the car, and my contractions started again, more intense. I drove Dawson to the emergency room and waited there with him. After a while I wasn't able to tell when one contraction was ending and the next one beginning . . . the nurse started asking me questions. She told me I had better go check myself in! So I left Dawson in the emergency room and went and checked myself in. As the nurses were filling me in about Dawson (and visa versa) my contractions started to slow down. A very drowsy Dawson joined me in the maternity room and there we waited for something to happen. Contractions were still there, just not very long, and not very intense, we went to sleep for the night (if that's what you can call it).

Early in the morning the doctor came and checked on me, four days previous I was 2 cm dialated and on tuesday morning I was at 0. I really was going backwards. They decided to induce me. At 10 I got the drugs and we started to walk. Dawson passed his kidney stone. By 11 I wasn't able to walk the halls anymore because contractions were very regular. After a few hours I hadn't progressed very far, but the doctor found a part of my water that hadn't broken, as soon as he broke that, labour flew by. It shocked everyone. And Jovie arrived safely.

Our story doesn't end there though . . . Wednesday morning Dawson looked at me and said, i'm having pains again. I think I may have another kidney stone, sure enough he had started to look rather pale, off to the emergency room he went. This time he was admitted into the hospital and they started to run some tests. The nurses bent a few rules and were able to have Dawson, Jovie and I share a room. That night we had some visitors, not only for Jovie, but also for Dawson. What an ordeal. Thursday was more of the same, Dawson drugged up beside Jovie and me in the hospital. They let me go home on Friday morning and told Dawson that he was welcome to try and go home, however he would most likely be back for pain medication. We decided that Dawson should stay in the hospital. My mom came and stayed with me that first night. Saturday morning Dawson passed a large kidney stone and came home later that afternoon.

Since then we've slowly been adapting to life as parents. Jovie has her days and nights mixed up, but that will soon change :)

Dawson has seen a specialist and has an appointment to have his kidney stones build-up blasted on October 5th. However . . . I just dropped Dawson off at the emergency room for another piece must have broken off . . .

4 door club

Well we have officially joined the 4 door club! We have bought a 4 door grand am.

We have met the enemy and the enemy is . . .

Don Boddy spoke on the above at Church yesterday. I'm not sure if I can answer that question, but I must say that I really enjoyed his speaking. He spoke about the Sermon on the Mount at the end of Matthew 5. You know the passage, where Jesus says, you've heard it been said an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth . . . well anyways one part that really stood out to me was when he said "where's God in this? He's there it's just raining on you" You know the verse where it says the rain falls on the righteous and the wicked (or the supertones song, which continues to say mine is not to reason why is this). How true is it that when something goes wrong we want to blame it on someone, why not blame God. God is God. He is always there. Why do we want to blame God for bad things that happen to good people. There's no explantion why and we don't know why really good things happen to really bad people. So next time you want to blame something on God, look at it and ask "where's God in this?" and find the positive. He's there, it's just raining on you.

North Carolina Trip

Well we are home from our wonderful holiday. We spent 13 days away from home and drove across 15 states! We also got to see 5 Nascar tracks.
On the way down we stopped at the Matt Kenseth fan club. We were able to buy some souvenirs and just enjoy all sorts of Matt Kenseth memorabilia.



The main purpose of our trip was to see the Coca Cola 600 @ Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was a terrific race, with my driver finishing 3rd (go K Petty). We were sitting right across from Matt's pit, here's a close up of his team working on a quick pit stop.

It was a hot day! Dawson and I are enjoying the pre-race festivities.

We drove out to the coast (Atlantic Ocean) and stayed at Carolina Beach for 2 nights. We were on the 8th floor with a balcony overlooking the ocean. It was beautiful.

We went to Fort Fisher to see an aquarium. Here's some jellyfish. They look cool.

We also were able to visit 3 race shops. Roush Fenway Racing, Chip Ganassi Racing and Petty Enterprises. At the Richard Petty Museum we met Mr. The King.

Richard is a Nascar legend. He has 200 career wins and has won many championships. He is also Kyle's dad! He was super down to earth and really nice. He thanked us many times for coming to the museum.

After the museum we took a drive past his house and made our way to Victory Junction Gang Camp. Victory Junction is a camp where children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses are able to go free of charge thanks to Klye and Pattie Petty. They started the camp about 3 years ago when their son Adam was killed while practicing for a Nascar race. The Camp was built on 72 acres that were generously donated by Richard and Lynda Petty. Victory Junction Gang Camp has a racing theme with the sights, sounds, look and feel of a race track! The Camp is comprised of 44 buildings, including the Goody's Body Shop medical center, the Hendrick Motorsports Fuel Stop dining hall, the Silver Theater, the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America water park, Adam's Race Shop, the Michael Waltrip Operation Marathon Sportscenter, Jessie's Horse Power Garage and a few others. We were able to go on a tour of the camp and it was just incredible.

We found a Tim Hortons in Ohio on the way home, so we had to stop, and Dawson had a coffee (it was really hot outside but he couldn't pass up the opportunity!). Tim Hortons also took Mastercard! Huh. We stopped at the Neil Armstrong Museum and the Omaha Zoo The zoo was HUGE! We easily could of spend a lot more time there, but we were anxious to get back on the road and get home. We made it home safely and really had a wonderful time.
